The ExCam e.Vario is an explosion proof camera with motorized variofocal lens. The video camera delivers superb picture quality for process monitoring and surveillance technology. The ExCam e.Vario is approved for dust and gas explosion risk zones in accordance with the EU directive 14/34/EU (ATEX, IECEx, EAC-Ex and MASC).
What makes this camera so special? What's the difference?
With the ExCam e.Vario, a new, very compact, analog, ex-proof varifocal camera enters the market. The ExCam e.Vario is the further development of the ExCam vario2.0. It offers the same economic advantages as the predecessor model; it is also robust, media resistant and ultra compact - but it has more powerful features.
"The main difference between the ExCam e.Vario and the previous model is its newly developed 1/2.8" CMOS sensor which results into a higher image quality. As a second characteristic, the new certificates have to be mentioned. Due to its motorized varifocal lens the camera is very easy to handle" explains product manager Alexander Kruse.

The ExCam e.Vario incorporates the CMOS sensor that offers highly improved sensitivity and colour reproduction compared to earlier sensors. In addition, the explosion proof camera can operate with a minimum illumination of 0.1 lx, resulting in a significant improvement in image quality under limited lighting conditions. This explosion proof camera achieves a high resolution of 1080p (1920x1080) 25p/30p.
Day/Night Function
The ExCam e.Vario features a Day/Night capability, which provides optimum sensitivity in both day and night shooting applications. As the scene illumination darkens, the infrared filter is automatically removed. The camera then switches to B&W mode enabling it to operate under a minimum illumination of 0,1 lx (AGC-Turbo, S/W).
Explosion proof camera with motorized adjustable lens
The camera's zoom and focus are to be adjusted by remote control. Thanks to the integrated auto IR cut filter, the ExCam e.Vario is doing exceptionally well in changing light conditions.
Easy handling and adjustment
The tutorial ExCam evario 01 shows the easy handling of the camera. In a first step it demonstrated how to adjust zoom and focus via remote control (optional accessory); easy and comfortable, without opening the pressure resistant housing. The control panel, showed in the second part of the clip, to adjust zoom, focus and other image settings (like motion detection, WDR, IR-Cut-Filter,...) over an on-screen-display, is not available any more.

New certificates - wide range of applications
Due to its very robust housing the camera is also suitable for indoor as well as for outdoor applications and cannot only be used in the chemical industry but also in the oil- and gas-industry, in off- and onshore environments, or for mechanical engineering applications, etc.. Because of the broad certification landscape (ATEX, IECEX, EAC-Ex, MASC) the camera can be used in explosion risk zones beyond Europe - in the Russian Customs Union and in Southafrica.
