IECEx
IECEx is a worldwide valid certification scheme for the independent verification and certification of devices and services in the field of explosion protection.
The IEC (short for International Electrotechnical Commission) has established a procedure to harmonize the conditions of admission for electrical devices in hazardous areas. The aim of this procedure is to simplify international trade using neutral certificates. There are 54 recognized certification bodies (ExCB) worldwide till now of which seven are situated in Germany. These are controlled regularly and accredited under high uniform standards. In order to receive an IECEx-certificate, the type testing on a sample has to be passed and the existence of a QM-system has to be demonstrated with an efficient audit.
The following table gives an overview of the IEC structure and the corresponding norms.
