Cables and lines and fire protection acc. to the CPR

Fire performance requirements based on EN50575:2014+A1:2016

The European Construction Products Regulation (CPR) EU 305/2011 is a legal regulation applicable in the EU. It defines basic safety requirements for buildings. One of these safety requirements is fire protection. The Construction Products Regulation establishes uniform product and testing standards for construction products. Construction products are defined as all goods that are permanently installed in buildings

Important facts:

  • Uniform product and testing standards: If cables and wires are permanently installed in buildings, the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) is binding for all EU member states.
  • Fire behavior requirements based on the EN50575:2014+A1:2016 test for cables and wires
  • Classification into main classes: Significance for heat release during flame spread (Aca – non-combustible to Fca, highly flammable)
  • Additional properties: Testing of smoke emission (s1-low to s3-high), burning droplets (d0 to d2) and acidity (a1-low to a3-high)

The VDE Testing and Certification Institute has tested our cable and classified its fire behavior as follows:

Product/ModelFire behavior
SKD02-TEca; Upgrade Dca in progress
SKDP03-TDca – s2, d0, a3
SKD04-T.flexFlexible cable not suitable for permanent installation
SKD05-HTNot suitable, not halogen-free
ASKD02-TEca; Upgrade Dca in progress
ASKDP03-TDca – s2, d1,a3

Many of our cables offer upgrade options.
