Explosion-proof IP camera with ATEX, IECEx, INMETRO, EAC-Ex certification, and more
The ExCam series is certified under both the European (ATEX) and international (IECEx) directives. The explosion-proof housing is approved for ATEX Group II in Zones 1, 2, 21, and 22, including explosion groups IIC and IIIC.
During the development of the ExCam IPM3905, great emphasis was placed on safety, mechanical precision, and high-quality stainless steel. Additionally, a modular design was a key focus of the development process. In terms of technical specifications, we have pushed the boundaries of what is possible: In areas such as media resistance and ambient temperature, the ExCam series sets new standards.
Outstanding Images as the Basis for Reliable Analysis
With the ExCam IPM3905, we are expanding our product line to include a compact, explosion-proof camera with a fixed focal length—consistent image sharpness without the need for time-consuming readjustments—and a 1/2.9-inch CMOS sensor with progressive scan.
High image quality is essential for reliable analysis. Thanks to its 1080p resolution at 25/30 frames per second, AXIS Lightfinder, and WDR, the ExCam IPM3905 provides the best foundation for powerful analysis capabilities by delivering outstanding images and detailed clarity even in low-light conditions.
Lightfinder and Forensic WDR
Lightfinder and WDR ensure good image quality even in low light. AXIS Lightfinder delivers realistic and saturated colors even from moving objects in low-light conditions. Forensic WDR balances out brightness differences within a scene, resulting in sharp images even in high-contrast scenes.
Artificial Intelligence and Cameras? Absolutely!
Cameras have long since ceased to be used solely for imaging-based surveillance. Thanks to ever-improving processors and the resulting performance of the cameras, the decentralized task of image analysis can now be performed directly on the camera—so-called “on-edge” solutions. The main advantage of this camera-based analysis is reduced bandwidth usage, since the actual analysis of the raw data is performed on the camera itself, and only metadata needs to be transmitted. This allows for near-real-time responses to events. For more on this topic, see our technical report on artificial intelligence in camera systems.
What field of view does the camera cover?
The user has 3 lenses to choose from. Depending on the application, he can choose between 3 different viewing angles: wide-angle lens or telephoto lens.
Optionally: Field Exchangeable Lens
| Lens | Iris | Horizontal AoV@16/9 |
|---|---|---|
| Megapixel lens 3.6mm | F2.0 | 88° |
| Megapixel lens 6.0mm | F1.6 | 51° |
| Megapixel lens 8.0mm | F1.6 | 39° |
Powerful Analysis Functions
The ExCam IPM3905 includes analytics features such as AXIS Privacy Masking (certain areas can be masked for privacy reasons), AXIS Motion Guard (motion detection in defined monitoring areas), and AXIS Tampering Detection (detection of tampering with the camera)
It supports features such as AXIS Loitering Guard (an alarm function triggered when a predefined time period is exceeded) and AXIS Fence Guard (an alarm function triggered when a virtual boundary is crossed).
It also supports the AXIS Camera Application Platform (third-party AI applications).
Media Resistance and Seals
Thanks to its high-quality materials, the ExCam series is resistant to a wide range of media!
The specially designed GYLON flat seals (PTFE) not only make the camera waterproof (IP68) but also resistant to a variety of chemicals. The extremely robust, scratch- and impact-resistant borosilicate glass of the front lens seamlessly complements the list of high-quality materials.
Temperatures
The operating temperature range for the ExCam IPM3905 is -30°C to +60°C.
Minimal Installation Effort & Power over Ethernet (PoE)
Thanks to Power over Ethernet (PoE), data and power can be transmitted through a single cable. This means that only a PoE switch or a PoE midspan is required for connection in a secure area. The cameras are powered via Power over Ethernet (PoE in accordance with IEEE 802.3af/at) over the network, eliminating the need for the costly installation of a separate power supply line. The ExCam IPM3905 delivers multiple different video streams simultaneously and supports H.264, H.265, and Motion JPEG.
Local Recording Storage & Edge Storage
The ExCam IPM3905 features a microSD/microSDHC/microSDXC memory card slot with UHS Speed Class U1 (card not included), meaning each camera has built-in recording storage. Additionally, the camera supports active recording to a NAS (Network Attached Storage).
