After a joint brunch in the factory courtyard with finger food and tapas, we carpooled to Lake Edersee in Hemfurth near the dam.
Once everyone had split into small groups and all the boats had been rented, we set off on an exploration tour of the barely filled Lake Edersee. In addition to the enormous dam, the route took us past Hopfenberg below Waldeck Castle, the burial ground near Alt-Berich, and the foundation walls of the Bericher Hütte – remnants of ancient times, the Edersee Atlantis. Impressed by how much history now lies underwater, we ended the day with dinner at the Terrassenhotel, enjoying the view of the dam at sunset.
A wonderful, eventful day.
