Explosion-proof IP-camera with ATEX-, IECEx- and EAC-Ex-certification

Besides the European regulations (ATEX), the ExCam series is also certified according to international regulations (IECEx) as well as the Russian custom-union (EAC-Ex). The housings’ certification comprises ATEX group I (mining) with a low risk of mechanical threat and ATEX group II (Gas and Dust) for zone 1, 2 as well as 21 and 22 including the explosion groups IIC / IIIC with a high risk of mechanical threat. In addition, certification can be extended at any time to cover different markets. For South Africa, for example, this has already been achieved with the MASC (Mining and Surface Certification).

During the ExCam IPQ1615’s development stage the focus was clearly laid on security aspects as well as mechanical precision and high-quality stainless steels. In addition, the modular design of the housing components prior to the camera’s development allows a free combination of the individual housing components such as different flanges in combination with the housing body - without any limitations regarding explosion protection.

Regarding the technical parameters we have pushed the limits of what is feasible: In the media resistance and the ambient temperature we set standards with the ExCam series.

Media resistance and seals

Due to the high-quality materials used for the T07 Series, it meets the requirements of a comprehensive media resistance list! The particularly designed GYLON (PTFE) flat sealing does not only ensure the housing to be watertight (IP68) but also supports the resistance towards several chemicals. The extremely robust and scratch-proof as well as high-impact resistant borosilicate glass fits perfectly into the high-quality materials of the housing body.

Temperatures

The allowed ambient temperature range of the ExCam IPQ1615 starts at -60°C and goes up to +60°C (+130°C with additional accessory cool.Jacket). This wide temperature range is possible thanks to our double ptc-ceramic heaters. They ensure that the camera remains ice-free even at -60°C while it doesn't get too hot at higher ambient temperatures. In order to ensure safe use even at high ambient temperatures we equip the cameras with high power and high temperature resistant primary cells to float charging of the battery.

Artificial intelligence meets camera

Cameras have long ceased to be used for purely imaging surveillance. Due to the ever-improving processors and the associated performance of the cameras, the decentralized task of image evaluation can now also be carried out directly on the camera - so-called on-edge solutions. The main advantage of this camera-based evaluation is the lower use of bandwidth, since the actual analysis is carried out on the camera from the raw data and only metadata has to be passed on. This means that events can be reacted to almost in real time. For more information about this topic, see our technical report on Artificial Intelligence.

Deep- und Machine Learning make it possible

Motion detection has long made it possible to detect people or vehicles in certain areas. However, the error rate, e.g. due to shadows or objects, was relatively high and the detected movement could not be classified. With the new technology of the ExCam IPQ1615 (intelligent algorithms and deep learning processor unit) it is possible to differentiate between a person and a car in the picture. The object analysis even goes so far that a distinction can be made between cars, trucks and motorcycles. Object analysis is interesting, for example, where the entry of a person into a danger area in which a machine is moving is to be recognized and reported.

Another edge-based analysis application: Live Privacy Shield

Dynamic privacy masking is possible with this new technology. Moving people or objects can be dynamically masked in live or recorded video in real time. Scenes can now be masked based on movement at 10 frames per second. This ensures that privacy is protected.

Reduced installation costs & Power over Ethernet (PoE)

A particularity of the ExCam IPQ1615 is that data as well as power is transmitted via a single cable which means that for the installation within the safe area, only a PoE-Switch or a PoE-Midspan is required.

Small housing - great resolution (HD)

With its length of just 310 mm and a diameter of only 113 mm, the ExCam IPQ1615 is smaller than some camera models for safe areas – but with more powerful functions. With progressive scan, the ExCam IPQ1615 is capable of making high-resolution images of moving objects with up to 120 frames per second: Without motion blur! The ExCam IPQ1615 delivers sharp images in HD resolution (2MP).

Remote Zoom &  Remote Focus

The ExCam IPQ1615 provides a lens with remote Zoom and remote focus. The greatest challenge of cameras with varifocal lens is opening and closing the pressure resistant housing to adjust the angle of view. This is not necessary for our ExCam! All adjustments can be made electronically. The housing has not to be opened! This reduces the installation efforts to a minimum which is especially important in hazardous areas. The pixel count of the camera mechanic can ensure that the pixel resolution of an object fulfills regulatory or customer requirements.

Unparalleled light sensitivity

The ExCam IPQ1615 delivers razor sharp images in any light. With 2 MP resolution at up to 120 fps, 1/2.8" sensor and Lightfinder, this camera captures more light than ever and enables outstanding image usability even in poor light. The camera also delivers Forensic WDR, to ensures perfect balance in scenes with strong variations in light, and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS).

Day / Night function

The ExCam IPQ1615 is equipped with a day / night function making it particularly suitable for use in outdoor or indoor areas with poor lighting. When the brightness drops below a certain value, the camera automatically switches to night mode to produce high-quality black and white images using near-infrared light. Near-infrared light, with a wavelength between 780 and about 1000 nanometers, cannot be perceived by the human eye, however, the image sensor of the ExCam IPQ1615 can recognize and use this light.

High image quality

For video surveillance applications, a high image quality is essential in order to be able to clearly identify involved persons or objects. With its progressive scan and megapixel technology, the ExCam IPQ1615 offers a much better image quality as well as a higher resolution than any analog CCTV camera. In addition, it is much easier to ensure the image quality in an IP network than in an analog system.

Easy, safe and sustainable integration

Network video products based on open standards can be integrated simply in combination with video management and application software.
